How does it work?

The Movtech Shock Wave is a device that generates radial shockwaves based on a mechanical principle. It delivers these waves through the treatment head into the tissues to stimulate local regenerative processes.

1. Generation of mechanical impulse
Within the device, a high-velocity metal projectile strikes the inner surface of the treatment head, generating a powerful impulse.
2. Energy transfer to tissues
The energy generated by the impact is transmitted through the skin and soft tissues in the form of short, powerful, radially spreading pressure waves, reaching a depth of approximately 3–4 cm.
3. Tissue effect – the body's natural processes are activated
Shockwaves can enhance local microcirculation, relieve muscle tension, and contribute to the natural regeneration of tissues. This makes it an ideal complement for muscle, tendon, and connective tissue applications.

FAQ

What is this device, and how does it work?

The Shock Wave electromagnetic radial shockwave device: the base unit uses an electromagnetic pulse to accelerate a projectile inside the handpiece, which impacts the back of the applicator head, and the resulting mechanical wave travels through the head into the skin and the underlying tissue.

The wave spreads radially from the skin surface, which is why it is called radial. The effect is purely mechanical: the device does not heat the skin and does not conduct electricity into it. Since it does not operate with compressed air, its power is measured in mJ, not bar.

The rentable device is intended for wellness and sports purposes, not as a medical device: it does not diagnose, treat, or cure, and it does not replace medical care.

What is the difference between radial and focused shockwave therapy?
  • radial: the wave spreads out from the skin surface, is strongest in the layers closer to the surface, and works over a larger area
  • focused: the wave is concentrated at a specific depth, focusing on a smaller area

This device works on the radial principle, so it is intended for treating larger muscle areas, not for pinpoint, deep penetration.

Who is it for?

For athletes and those with an active lifestyle focusing on their major muscle groups, as well as professionals working in the field of movement.

It can also be used at home by individuals. The correct technique is covered in a separately available training material provided by a qualified professional.

Users under 18, those who are pregnant, or those with any existing health conditions should consult their physician first.

Does it require gel? Can it be used through clothing?

Yes, an ultrasound gel-type conductive medium is required for it.

  • a thin, even layer is sufficient to cover the area being treated
  • too much gel absorbs the wave energy
  • too little reduces effectiveness and increases the risk of skin irritation
  • other substances (body lotion, oil) are not suitable for this

It cannot be used through clothing. The head should be placed directly onto bare skin, because clothing absorbs some of the waves, preventing the energy from being properly transmitted. It cannot be used through bandages or patches either.

How do I adjust the intensity? Do I need a rubber head?

The device features pre-set programs for each body area with pulse counts and intensities adjusted to the expected muscle depth of the given area. It is recommended to start with these, and you should not exceed the values of the factory programs or the user manual.

Always start at the lowest setting and increase it gradually, adjusting it to your own tolerance level.

The treatment should not be painful. If you feel sharp pain, lower the energy level or frequency.

The energy level and frequency can be adjusted separately, and it is also worth choosing the treatment head based on the area. A smaller head feels stronger at the same setting.

On more sensitive skin surfaces, use the rubber head or the rubber attachment that can be placed over the metal head; this softens the pulse. Using the rubber is optional; the device can also be used with the metal head.

How often and for how long should I use it?

For general use, 1–3 sessions per week are recommended.

Do not treat the same area daily; allow it to rest between sessions.

A session generally lasts 10–15 minutes. Within this time, multiple separate areas can be treated, but do not treat the entire body at once. Follow the device’s recommended time, number of pulses, and intensity for each area: excessive use or overly high intensity can cause skin irritation, pain, swelling, or bruising.

One program can generally be followed by another immediately, as the device cools during operation. For longer, continuous use, take a short break approximately every 30 minutes. If the device indicates overheating or shuts off automatically, wait until it has cooled down.

More frequent use should only be considered after consulting a professional.

What does it feel like, and does it break the skin?

A tapping, pulsating sensation that intensifies with the level. It does not break the skin: the head remains on the surface and does not penetrate.

Temporary redness, mild swelling, or sensitivity may occur in the treated area; this usually subsides within a short time.

If bruising, persistent pain, or numbness occurs, discontinue use, and if the symptoms do not improve, consult a doctor.

When can it NOT be used?

Do not use:

  • in case of active infection in the area to be treated
  • in case of cancerous lesions in the area to be treated
  • if pregnant

Seek medical advice first if:

  • there is brain or nerve tissue near the area to be treated
  • the lungs or pleura fall within the area to be treated
  • you have a severe blood clotting disorder or are taking anticoagulants
  • there is growth cartilage in the area to be treated (childhood and adolescence)

Do not treat bony surfaces, joints, open wounds, or inflamed skin, and avoid the head, the front of the neck, and the genital area.

Around the knee, elbow, or heel, do not aim the head at the protruding bone or directly at the joint; instead, aim at the adjacent muscles. Anatomical knowledge is required to select the appropriate point.

What are the device's features?

MAX model:

  • energy level: 5–250 mJ, frequency: 1–16 Hz, 5 intensity levels
  • 14 interchangeable treatment heads
  • dimensions: 197 × 145 × 63 mm, net weight: 1.89 kg

PRO model:

  • energy level: 5–250 mJ, in 27 levels, frequency: 1–16 Hz, 16 levels
  • 14 interchangeable treatment heads
  • dimensions: 214 × 134 × 61 mm, net weight: 2.374 kg

For rentals, the device comes with its accessories. If it does not function properly during the rental period, do not disassemble it; contact our customer service instead.

How should I clean and store it?

After treatment, wipe the gel off the treatment head and skin. Clean the heads with a slightly damp cloth or disinfectant wipe, then wipe them dry.

Do not immerse the device body in water, and always turn it off and unplug it from the mains before cleaning.

Store it in the carrying case in a dry, cool place. If the device malfunctions, do not disassemble it; instead, contact our customer service.
